How to reduce tool wear?

The tool can be said to be a very commonly used key component, and it is also very easy to wear. How to minimize tool wear is very important.

What is wear?

Wear occurs when two elements squeeze each other and produce relative movement (for example, between the tool tip and the milling material). During this process, the tiny particles on the surface of the two components are separated from the components.

Common causes of tool wear:

All the components of the tool are more or less subject to wear from the milling material. Once a single component is damaged, such as the tool tip, steel tool body, gasket or circlip, the entire tool should be replaced to prevent damage to the relatively expensive tool holder system, and the replacement of the tool holder system is more complicated.

Common tool wear includes the following types of reasons: incorrect installation; use of components from different manufacturers; milling materials are compacted on the tool and continue to accumulate, generally due to incomplete cleaning; the wrong tool is selected (different types of machines should Choose different types of cutters); the sprinkler system in the milling drum housing is inadequate.

How to avoid wear?

Tool wear cannot be completely avoided, but at least it can be reduced to a very low level. Sufficient water supply is the basic prerequisite to ensure the normal rotation of the tool. Choosing the right tool according to the milling material can also optimize the use and reduce wear. Pay attention to the daily thorough cleaning; check the tools regularly, find and respond to the wear or damage of the components in time; carry out regular maintenance and inspection of the sprinkler system; choose the milling tools of the applicable working conditions.

Correct installation of the tool:

Before installation, check whether there is any foreign matter in the inner diameter of the tool holder and confirm whether it needs to be cleaned; use a suitable tool (copper hammer or pneumatic insertion tool) to prevent damage to the tip of the tool; manually check the rotation of the tool (turn the tool by hand).

Only through correct maintenance can the wear of key components be reduced to a very low level, thereby greatly saving costs and ensuring the efficient work of the machine.
